The owner is not a dishonest person, the music is fantastic, and the food is ALWAYS great. See for yourself. I'm so glad this is one of the few restaurants in Brooklyn that charge a reasonable amount."

"I had a great time at this restaurant. I had my birthday here about 2 weeks ago and the owner promised me a closed party. He kept his word and I am very happy because I had a bad experience in another restaurant where the owner couldn't keep his own promises. The food in Shanson is REALLY good, the music is fresh, and the service was nice."

"For my mother’s 80th birthday anniversary, I needed a nice quiet place where we can socialize, dance, and reminisce with our loved ones. While speaking with the owner, I asked him if there is another reservation, he said no. When I called the owner again two weeks prior to the date, he informed me that he had forgotten about our reservation for 6:30pm on a Saturday, April 20th and booked another party for 5:00pm on that very day. He apologized, admitted mistake, and told me that he will make a new arrangement with the other party. “Don’t worry about anything,” the owner told us, “a deal is a deal.” When we arrived to Shanson on the date, we were shocked to discover a wedding party of 50-60 people already in progress. Our table was crammed so close to the entrance that some of us were basically sitting out the door. Throughout the evening we were forced to hear all the newlyweds’ relatives, listen to their choice of music, watch their wedding video, and scream at the top of our lungs in order to make any of our toasts even remotely audible. Any dancing for us was out of the question since Shanson’s already modestly sized dance floor was teeming with the wedding guests. To add insult to injury, the restaurant only had one restroom for a ballroom of some 70-80 people. When I confronted the owner about this shameful deception, he simply told me that “there was no need to get upset.” I would have easily booked a different venue. Including food, tax, tips, and service fees, the night cost me a very high price with virtually no satisfaction in return. The embarrassment that I felt in front of my relatives, many of whom flew in from distant states, was unbearable and insurmountable. The wedding party guests were also upset by what transpired and responded accordingly. The owner of Shanson is a lowly, dishonest man and I urge anyone to not allow him ruin your next special event. You owe your loved ones and yourselves better."

"I had a very bad experience with this restaurant. Owner is very dishonest man i had booked a closed restaurant party for large group and was charged as for closed restaurant party and on the day of the party I had a bad surprise when owner had another big party of 30 and something people but when I confronted the owner he did not had any decency to speak honestly but continued lying to me that he did not know it will happen. And on top of that the night before he started demanding more money even though he knew that there will be another party, and it was bed experience because it was not enough place for two parties and food was not served on the right time so people started going home before they gave all food, food was ok but nothing special. I would not suggest this place to anyone."

"Will not reccomend, prices in house menu almost twice higher then in internet menu, quality of food is average, made from cheaper meats and fish and vegetables then should be in star rated restourant. We had bad eperience last saturday."
