"This has got to be the BEST sushi place I`ve been to in all of NY. Fish is amazingly fresh all the time. Service is phenomenal. Michelle is the nicest sweetest person ever and she remembers EVERYTHING. Each time I go she will make suggestions based on what I ordered the previous time I was there. Even if it was months prior. The price might be higher then some other places but I never feel like it wasn`t money well spent. A+ all around."

"Every neighborhood sushi place should take a cue from Hokkaido. The restaurant for one is very personable and you are made to feel at home when dining here. The staff is very honest about what's good today and very suggestive as well as always on point on what to select. It's an absolute pleasure to dine in here. Hokkaido also offers free delivery, the food taste just as good but I just love the dining experience. "My reaction after dinner: Whoa. Did that just happen? We went to Hokkaido for a last-minute dinner. The restaurant is located in a small shopping plaza in the middle of Bay Terrace, a minute away from my parents' house. Call me a sushi snob but I wasn't expecting much. We ordered a ton of appetizers -- volcano special, okinawa, kimchee salmon, and grilled squid. The appetizers were fantastic. The kimchee salmon was a very creative and tasty dish; I never had anything like it. The squid was tender and grilled beautifully. We also had a Hawaiian roll, a specialty roll of some delicious sort, a few spicy tuna and spicy salmon hand rolls, a sashimi platter, veggie rolls for the veggies at the table, and a Boston roll for the little. The sashimi, a true test of quality, was absolutely outstanding. The fish tasted like the sea and seriously melted in your mouth. I think that will be my dinner choice next time. The specialty rolls were excellent. Even the Boston roll was great, fresh and crunchy, packed with Romaine instead of iceberg lettuce. Very friendly service! The place is definitively 5 stars, Service, Quality, Presentation and everything else is just truly top notch."

"I love this place. I have never been a sushi eater and then I tried this place. It is great. So fresh, they know you and are friendly and they will make to order what you like. It can get pricy but when I go to other "cheaper" places it just is not as good and by the time I order the roll I want it is pretty much the same money."

"Not sure about the previous review regarding Delivery, but when Dining at Hokkaido, everything is good including the service. The specialty rolls are the best, they use quality fish, unfortunately it does get a little pricey and is a hard decision to make when choosing between the dozens of half price sushi available all over the island. You will greatly enjoy yourself at this place, make sure you order from the specialty rolls menu and 1 roll and an appetizer should be enough for one person. They also have a new Thai Specialty menu but I haven't tried anything from it."

"I have been ordering from Hokkaido since it opened, over the years it got really bad. When i order they always forget something. How do you order sushi from a sushi restaurant but they don't give you chop sticks. Some times i order an abundance of sushi for the family and they only give one soy sauce. I think they are over priced when there food is just okay. If you order a california roll there is more cucumbers then there is imitation crab. I will no longer order for Hokkiado."

"Used to be my favorite Sushi take out spot, new owners took over was a bit scared to try it but very glad that I did, the portions are much larger and the quality is still as much as we are used to. No half price sushi here and that's fine with me as long as the quality keeps up we'll keep ordering from this spot."
