One of the highlights of my visit was trying the much-talked-about 5LB lobster. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical. Many years ago, I had a disappointing experience with a similar lobster in New Jersey. The texture was rubbery, and it just didn’t sit right with me. But when I arrived at Joe's, I couldn’t resist the special presentation of the 5LB lobster, especially after Joe, the owner, encouraged me to give it another shot, insisting that I hadn’t tried a properly cooked one before.
I took his word for it and decided to dive in. The lobster was truly outstanding. It was prepared with a method I found to be perfect: steamed, then cut, and finally baked or broiled. Whatever the technique, it made for an incredible taste that rivaled some of the best lobsters I’ve had fresh from Newport, Rhode Island.
This massive dish is definitely meant to be shared, as there’s plenty of meat in each claw. Don't skip those! Every bite was juicy, and the flavor was spot on. It was a pleasant surprise and completely changed my perception of what a 5LB lobster could be. If you’re a seafood lover, this is a must-try.
