"First read about this 1920's style restaurant mentioned in the New York Times--sounded classy and different. Liked it immediately when we walked in--early on a Friday eve it was pretty empty. Nice, warm, relaxing period decor. They have a handbook on the tables to read about the different cocktails from the era. We ordered the elderberry collins, expecting something unusual. It was a drink so good, it would be worth going back just to get another one. Really well done, and served in mason jars--an authentic tribute to the Prohibition Era. The food was delicious, obviously made with care. Served piping hot, and we just generally had the feeling that someone really gave a damn about how this place was run. Overall, an unusual find for Staten Island. Service was excellent. Only negative was there were fruit flies or something similar flying around--an issue that needs to be addressed and I assume it will be taken care of in short order. They have a Prix Fix menu for about $20 during the week, but not the weekends. I highly recommend you check this place out."

"This is my new favorite restaurant on Staten Island. From the decor to the dessert, I'm in love. Adorable outdoor eating area, exposed brick, PERFECT music all greet you upon walking in. Comfortable sized tables and super high ceilings.
Getting to the important stuff, the food. Party of 5 ordered 3 appetizers Mac and cheese perfect. Calamari capers and jalapenos! Oh my goodness... French onion soup that you could tell was expertly made.
Entrees we ordered seafood risotto gigantic portion. A little rich for my taste, but delicious. Short ribs recommended by our waiter and we're incredibly tender with layers and layers of flavor. Duck breast again, layers of flavor and tenderness outstanding chutney on top too. Mmm. Prime rib rivals the hardcore steakhouses on the island.
Add on the exceptional service and delicious desserts and watermelon sangria!!!, absolutely do not miss this gem.
To long time islanders the chef is formerly of the American Grill on forest avenue. No wonder it's fabulous.
GO GO GO!!!!!"

"The atmosphere is really different and it brings you back to the 1920's. They had a live jazz band playing on a friday nite which had a cool vibe.We had the mussels with bacon polenta and pear salad appetizers. For entrees we had salmon, and short ribs. All were delicious, and also very good sangria. The owner is very nice and friendly. Im looking forward to going back."
