My husband and I had a horrible experience at this restaurent. My husband tasted the octopus salad, which was slimy. I had the eggplant parmigiana which was bitter-tasting with very watery tomato sauce. I usually prefer parmigiana because I'm not crazy about ricotta, but they presented the dish with quite a bit of ricotta on top. I had the string beans on the side, which were mostly tasteless with the exception of some spices which I didn't recognize or particularly like. My husband had the pork, which he described as fatty and salty. I ordered dessert because I was still hungry and the cheesecake was ok. The service was equally terrible. The server was very unfriendly and dissappeared after dessert. We spotted him sitting by the register chatting with the clerk and unsuccessfully attempted to flag him down after waiting more than ten minutes. We finally managed to grab the attention of a bus boy who told the waiter we wanted the check. The prices were okay, but not worth it when we didn't really enjoy one thing we ate.

I first ate at Joe's in Brooklyn, when I was 8 years old. The only difference is Joe's of Staten Island, is cleaner, prettier, live entertainment, pleasant wait staff, and most of all the food is as good if not better then Brooklyn. I really think the bad review's I've read here, are simply not true or those people don't have taste buds. Thank You Joe for opening in Staten Island ,You guy's nailed it. GOOD JOB My both grand parents on my mom and dads side were born in Italy.

I'm a sicilian from Brooklyn and loved the original.I used to go once a week, until the food changed.I was hopeful when I heard it was coming to SI,but I was very disappointed. The panelles were greasy the riceball special was horrible and other specialties (pasta con sarde) were disappointing.I thought it was because it had just opened and needed time ,so I gave it a few months and went back.It was the same. I dont know about going back.I want it to be like it was , someplace that i could get my sicilian specialties and remember the food of my youth. I hope they get it together and do the food justice.

I loved it... the food is excellent... it is real sicilian food that you would only eat in Sicily... panelle special was amazing...riceball special to die for and the polpo salad so fresh. prices are great service was really good everyone was so polite...it is nice to walk into a restaurant and hear italian again. they also have live music on thursdays. FOOD ISNT`S GREASY PANELLES, POT CROQUETTES AND OTHER SICILIAN SPECIALTIES ARE DEEP FRIED!!! I loved welcome to staten island.

The food was greasy and completely unappetizing, they forgot part of my order. I know they just opened so I hope that the quality improves. As it stands now this restaurant is doing the name "Joe`s" a disservice considering how good the food in Brooklyn was.
